Post dismissal appeals
A worker who has been dismissed should usually appeal against the dismissal. We suggest you follow the ACAS Code on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures.
In work grievances
A worker who has difficulties at work or has been treated badly, can try to resolve the matter internally before going to a tribunal. This may be done by an informal letter or conversation or by a written grievance.
Quite apart from that, there is always the hope that a grievance may lead to an agreed solution with the employer.
As a minimum, the grievance should identify the discriminatory actions complained of, for example, abusive remarks, failed promotion, disciplinary action, and clarify what type of discrimination is complained of, for example, based on pregnancy, maternity, sex, childcare, part-time working.
