Take Your Child*To Work Day:

  • Decide whether you are going to target a specific age group. This can make activities etc easier to organise.

  • Draft a letter to schools in advance for parents to use to help them get permission  for the children to take part.

  • Think of what you have as an organisation that would be of interest to the children and work from there.

  • Generate a work pack.

  • Draft some simple guidance notes for teams to follow.

  • Create a framework for the teams to develop themselves so they take ownership

  • Map out what a typical day might look like including some events - so that each business sector can use it as a template.

  • Create a banner for your homepage.

  • Set up a dedicated web page.

  • Encourage each line of business to get involved and make it their own.

  • Encourage each line of business to communicate with each other so they can share ideas.

  • Get line managers to recognise the work their team is doing on the event.

  • Come up with a theme that is good for the business and that people will buy into.

  • Design the programme so that it has value to the business and not a “fluffy experience”.
