How much parental leave can I take?

Each parent can take up to 13 weeks parental leave in total for each child as long as they meet the qualifying criteria. If your child is claiming DLA, the entitlement is up to 18 weeks in total. Usually each parent may not take more than 4 weeks in a year for each qualifying child. You can take the leave in long or short blocks depending on what has been agreed with your employer.
