Working Families American Express Best Boss 2007

American Express Logo

Do you want to thank your boss for being the best?

Has your boss made a big difference to your working life?

Does your boss...

  • Celebrate and share successes with their team?
  • Empower and inspire you to achieve your goals?
  • Encourage a flexible culture by promoting work-life balance?
  • Take practical steps to help you balance your work and home lives?
  • Trust their team by delegating and expecting the best?

Then it’s time they received the recognition they deserve.

Enter your boss for this year’s competition and be in with a chance of winning a prize for them and your team.

Your boss could be a winner.....

...wherever they work, whatever their organisation

Britain's Best Boss was launched in 2000 by Working Families to recognise individual bosses and line managers who take practical steps to help their staff balance their work and home lives. Previous winners have come from a range of organisations, both large and small, and from all over the country. What they all have in common is the way they trust and bring out the best in their team. They understand individual needs and strengths and foster a flexible ‘can do’ culture.

Celebratory Lunch at the House of Lords

Entering the competition is free, and if you nominate any of the winners, you and your boss will be invited to a celebratory luncheon at the House of Lords on 12th March 2008. In addition, the person nominating the overall winner of Britain’s Best Boss 2007 will receive a meal for two in a top London restaurant and an overnight stay at a London hotel.

Good bosses always acknowledge the part the team plays in their success and not only will Britain’s Best Boss 2007 be presented with a trophy, they will also receive £1,000 of gift vouchers so that they can celebrate their success with their team.

Media Coverage

In previous years, all our winners and the organisations to which they belong, have received great media coverage. This means we spread the word about excellent work-life balance practice and your boss could be held up as a shining example for others to follow.

How to enter

Employees in every kind of organisation in the private, public and voluntary sector can nominate their boss.

Simply complete and return the nomination form, enter here!

We will then contact your boss to ask for their agreement to enter them into the competition, and ask them for more information on what they think makes them a good boss.

January 2008: A shortlist will be interviewed by telephone to find out more information about their policies and practices.

February 2008: A prestigious panel of judges, including Allison Pearson, author of I Don’t Know How She Does It and Howard Davies, Director of the London School of Economics, will select the overall winner and any special commendations.

March 2008: The winner of Britain’s Best Boss 2007 and special commendations will be announced and invited to a celebratory lunch and awards presentation at the House of Lords on 12th March 2008
