How you can help us

Our Marathon runner, Jill May, triumphant!

Huge congratulations to Jill May for running her first London Marathon in 3 hours 56 minutes.
Pictured here, with husband Mick, two of her six children (India-Rose 11, Honor 9) and parents John and Betty Langham (83 and 84).

We're deeply grateful to Jill, who works for UBS and is one of our Changemakers, for raising over £12,000 for Working Families.

If you would like to support her, do go to http://www.justgiving.com/jillmay - or perhaps you might like to run the Marathon for us next year? If so, do contact Chris Jones at Working Families on 020 7017 0063

Like any charity, Working Families survives on the generosity of its funders. Every contribution makes a real difference to our effectiveness.

Your contribution helps real people overcome real issues. For example, your £30 may translate into the legal advice which helps a low income single parent resolve work problems. £100 pays for all the factsheets we send out in a week, making untold difference to the lives of recipients.

Donations

Donation cheques and credit card payments should be made out to Working Families and sent to Working Families, NAT3184, London EC1B 1BR.

Payroll Giving

If you prefer to give directly from your salary you may be able to do so if your employer offers this. You can donate to Child Concern Consortium, five charities including Working Families working together for children. Click here to find out more about payroll giving.

If you are an employer and you would like more information about how to set up a payroll giving scheme for employees please click here for further information.

Corporate Sponsorship

All sponsors seek positive associations. Sponsoring the activities of Working Families gives a clear message about farsighted employment practices. It sends a message to a wide audience of government, corporate bodies, employer groups and working parents. If you would like to discuss opportunities to support our work via corporate sponsorship, please telephone Chief Executive Sarah Jackson or Corporate Affairs Manager Kirstie Axtens on 020 7253 7243, or contact either by email by clicking on their name.

Past corporate sponsors include: Accor Services, BP plc, British Telecommunications plc, Ford Motor Company Europe, GlaxoSmithKline plc, HSBC, JPMorgan, Linklaters, Lloyds TSB Group plc, Lloyds TSB Scotland, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Shell Companies in the UK and Simmons & Simmons.

Funds raised are spent in three areas:

Membership services and parent support.

This includes the Children with Disabilities Project, legal advice for low income families and providing free factsheets for parents on a wide range of work-life issues.

Employer activities.

The major activities under this heading are the Employer of the Year Awards, and our Best Boss Competition which recognises the contribution made by an individual or manager to good work-life balance. Also included are the seminars which we run for employers on work-life balance practice and our work promoting worklife balance good practice to other charities.

Policy and public affairs.

This covers our work with government, media and opinion formers, raising the profile of issues and solutions relevant to our members and users.

We keep the cost of fundraising and administration to under 15% of expenditure in order to maximise the percentage of our income which we devote to our charitable objectives.
