Women’s Equality Network

The Women’s Equality Network provides online peer to peer support and advice for women facing discrimination in the workplace. The aims of the network are to provide women with a safe forum where they can share their experiences and give each other support as well as seek some advice to help them resolve their dispute.   Many women feel isolated when faced with discrimination at work, whether because of gender, age, race, sexual orientation. Miriam O’Reilly, Patron for Women’s Equality Network who won her own case against the BBC for age discrimination said: “Talking to someone else who has faced a similar situation can provide incredible support and reassurance and give you the inner strength to carry on”

The web site offers women the opportunity to create anonymous accounts, so they can talk about their personal experiences or participate in other discussions.   A messaging facility is also available, so that users can email each other privately.  The web site also contains personal stories by women about the discrimination they have face, the action they took and the impact on their lives.  As many women do decide to take some form of action against discrimination, guidance on what they can do from informal meetings through to their legal rights is also available.
