Guidelines, Terms and Conditions for Best Practice Awards

The 2018 Working Families Best Practice Awards


  • The Awards are free to enter
  • You must be able to demonstrate a family friendly and/or flexible working work culture
  • Any size of organisation can apply but your workforce must be based in the UK
  • You may enter as many categories as are relevant to your organisation
  • All entries are treated as confidential
  • You are asked to follow the outlined word count listed beside each question. Additional material or words will not be considered
  • Applicants are invited to answer as many background questions as possible, while we understand that some questions may not be applicable to different sizes of organisation
  • All entries are judged anonymously
  • Judges will use the answers to all questions (background and narrative) to make their decision based on a scoring system
  • The judges decision is based on the information provided in the application form only. No further due diligence will be taken, therefore each application should be a true and accurate reflection of the organisation
  • The judges’ decision is final
  • Large organisations are categorised as those larger than 250 employees, SMEs are less than 250 employees and a turnover of less than £5 million. The definition of whether you are a large or small employer will be based on your total workforce
  • SME organisations must be independent. This means they are not a subsidiary (except of a holding company) and must not be a franchise
  • Nominations can be submitted by completing the Awards application, saving the document to your computer and emailing it to: flora.wallington@workingfamilies.org.uk
  • Deadline for applications is: Monday 23rd April 2018, by 5pm
  • The Award winners will be announced in July 2018

Terms and Conditions

  • Entrants are fully responsible for the accuracy of the information provided to the judging panel. No additional due diligence will be taken by Working Families prior to the judging process
  • Entrants accept that the entry is representative of the entire business
  • Entrants accept that the content outlined in the entry will be recognisable to employees as their place of employment
  • All Award winners will be asked to take part in promotional activity and by submitting your entry you give your permission to Working Families and its partners to use the details of your entry to promote the Working Families Best Practice Awards. This could include but is not limited to websites, press releases and print
  • Data Protection: In completing and submitting the registration form, organisations agree that Working Families may periodically contact your organisation with details of events and services that may be of interest to them
  • Entrants agree and accept that they will be solely responsible and liable for any and all damage caused by their entry
