Working Families Wins Law Society Excellence In-house Award
Published: 18 Oct 2018
Working Families’ legal advice service has won the 2018 Law Society Excellence In-house award. The award was presented on 17 October in London.
The award recognised Working Families’ innovative pro bono e-mail ticketing platform, which uses five participating law firms and 30 trained solicitors to pick up and draft responses to queries from parents and carers receiving unjust treatment at work. This initiative boosts the capacity of our legal helpline, enabling us to help even more vulnerable working parents and carers to understand and assert their employment rights – and our in-house legal experts to champion legislative change for the benefit of working families.
Law Society president Christina Blacklaws said the Excellence Awards recognised firms, in-house teams and solicitors, like the Working Families team, who went above and beyond in their efforts to support their clients.
“Every year law firms and solicitors from every corner of England and Wales support their clients through major life events or particularly trying times,” she said.
“This year we received a record number of nominations for the awards, which highlighted the exceptional dedication, thoughtfulness and skill solicitors bring to their job on a daily basis.
“Solicitors are here to help and the Working Families Legal Advice Service team have shown their dedication to the parents and carers they serve. Congratulations to the whole team for this well-deserved recognition.”
Now in their 12th year, the Law Society’s Excellence Awards are the most prestigious awards for solicitors in England and Wales.
